ON 14th April our honorable Prime Minister addressed nation and announced extension of lockdown till may 3rd 2020. As we can all see how number of cases are increasing India day by day this extension of lockdown was very much needed. In that speech he also urged citizens to follow a few more points to help expedite the fight against corona virus.

PM Modi also thanked and praised the citizens in the country for maintaining disciple and adhering to lockdown guidelines dutifully. Along with the brief about the steps he also ensure India's win in the battle against virus.

Take care of elderly people : In your house take extra care of elderly people especially those who have any kind of pre-existing illness.

Follow Lockdown and Social distancing : As PM has extended lockdown he told to strictly follow that and until their is an emergency don't go out of the house. He also recommended to use face mask which is made in home and if you buy from outside dispose that off as soon as you come home.

Follow AYUSH Ministry guidelines to increase your immunity :  Open this link here are the guidelines to increase your immunity as it is important to improve your immunity sysytem to fight against covi-19. AYUSH Department have suggested some guideline PM told to follow these.

Download AAROGYA SETU App : PM Modi have asked to download this app to be safe and aware of corona virus and do tell other people to download this app. This app is specially develop track corona virus patients near you. Help poor and needy families : He told to help poor and needy specially by providing food and giving them some masks so that they can also be safe.

Compassion of employees : The Prime Minister told employers to have compassion at such a challenging time and not to fire employers.

Respect the Workers : Workers like Police officers, Doctors,nurses, working in hospitals, cleaners , military. Respect these people as they are working for us in these worst situation also.

Pool Testing : What is Pool Testing (covid-19)

This graph shows how fast the number of cases are growing in India. So the total testing as of April 13- The ICMR has so far been able to test a little more than 2 lakh samples - a minimal amount compared to country's 1.3 billion population due to paucity of testing kits. We have only covered 0.015% population of the country so the testing process have to be fast as you can see in the graph how cases are growing.

ICMR prepares plan to increase testing capacity to 100000 a day. The number of tests conducted have grown almost four time since April 1 to an average 15000 daily in past 5 days. However it is very low per million population. The ICMR suggested pool testing - screening a pooled sample from five individuals --- which will cut costs. Individuals are tested only when samples prove positive. 
Nivideta Gupta senior scientist at ICMR also told about its benefits , " This method is effective in two ways. First, it increase the capacity of testing and (second) it saves a lot of resources - time, cost, manpower." 

What is pool testing ?
Multiple samples are suspected corona virus patients are examined in a RT PCR (Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction). In easy a words a group will be tested not a person. The below image will show how pool testing is done :

Preferable number of samples to be pooled in five, though more two samples can be pooled but considering higher possibilities of missing positive samples with low viral load it is strongly discouraged to pool more than 5 samples, except in research mode.

On 14th march 2020 as our honorable PM Mr. Modi extended lockdown till may 3,2020 with that he also told various type of prevention to take to be safe from covid-19 and told about the Aarogya setu app.

It is a COVID-19 tracking mobile application developed by the National Informatics center that comes under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, government of India. This app is available for both android and ios.

This app seems to have replaced the Corona Kvach app that MeiTY had bought out earlier.

The purpose of this is to spread awareness and "Augmenting" efforts to "practices" and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19.

The app lets users check whether they have been in contact with infected people by using location and Bluetooth data from smartphones.

This app requires users to give continuous access to their smartphone's location that would let it figure out where the user has been. The bluetooth location lets users figure out a person's proximity to others.
This app also contains a test to ensure that you are safe or not. So when you register in this app you have take a self assesment test and also tell you to take what type of prevention to be safe from covid-19. 
And if we talk about the privacy of the app there is mention in this app that " Your data is shared only with the Government of India. This app does not allow your name and number to be disclosed to the public at large at any time". 
Wheather you live in any region of the India this app is available in 11 languages. So it will be not hard for you to understand.

Today more than 2 cr people have downloaded the app on the recommendation of PM Modi in his lockdown extension speech.
Inspiration came from NITI Ayog's Amith Kant took to twitter to post, "India leads the way in contact tracing for Covid-19 privacy first by design, secure, robust, and scalable to billion users". Further tagging Apple's Tim Cook and Google's Sundar Pichai Kant said, "Glad to see Apple and Google joining hands to develop contact tracing on the lines of Aarogya Setu". 
And actually first time this type of app was developed by china when their were many patients of covid-19 in their country and understanding this many countries made their own app to track covid-19 patients.
Even South economic report of World Bank says, " Digital technologies can also be used to monitor the spread of Covid-19. Such initiatives largely voluntary, have been have been successful in  helping combat the pandemic in east asia. Incentives also can be provided to those who report symptoms. India recently launched app, AAROGYA SETU, that uses location data from persons' smart phones to tell users if they have been near someone who  tested positive for covid-19".

So do download this app as whenever you go out you will be inform by this app that someone near you has corona or not and even it will tell you the hotspot of corona patients. But remember you will know this only if people near you will also have this app and their GPS and bluetooth is on.

Today our honorable PM announces lockdown to extend till May 3. As we all know the world is suffering from covid-19 and comparing to other countries India is at a balanced condition. This is all because of 21 days lockdown announced by PM modi on 25 March 2020.

This is all done to ensure that from now there will no new cases of covid-19 in India and to make sure that hotspots where there are maximum number of cases should be control. If we can control now as the number of cases in India has reach upto 9000+ we can save many lives.

As we all know the world going through a tough time because of COVID-19 and as of now the cases have reached up to 1800000+ .In this situation many countries have announced lock down due to which the world may suffer from economic crises but because of lock down the pollution have started to drop dramatically. It has drooped so much that we can see blue sky, clean rivers and even stars in the night.

India is home to 21 of the world’s 30 most polluted cities but because of 21 days lock down vehicles stay off the road, construction is put on hold, and factories stop production, the levels of microscopic particulate matter, or PM 2.5, start to drop.

How Air pollution decreasing because of lock down?

NO₂

 Nitrogen Dioxide (NO₂)  - It is toxic gas that is emitted from the engines of cars, buses, trucks and factories.World health Organisation states that if this gas is more in concentration than 200 micrograms per cubic meter than it can cause an enormous inflammation in your breathing pipe which can leads to problems like asthma. So because of lock down in many countries vehicles have stopped , factories are shut that's why NO_{2 in air has fallen drastically.}

Particulate matter 2.5

It is the most harmful form of air pollution. It includes in the category of group 1 carcinogen and it is so small that it can travel from your lungs into your blood stream which will not only cause respiratory problems but also heart attacks and premature problems.

It is so deadly that WHO has estimated that every year, world wide more than 4 million people are killed due to PM 2.5 caused heart disease, strokes, lung cancer, chronic lung disease and respiratory infection.

So because of Lock down the level of Pm 2.5 has also dropped and that is the reason you can see blue sky and stars in the night.

You can see how dangerous is air pollution is but sadly people are and government is not concern about this. This also decrease the rate of people dying due to air pollution.

A scientist in Standford university has has done a research regarding this more than 77000 people are saved due to decrease in air pollution.

Not only Air but water of rivers are also becoming cleaner. "Due to stoppage of industrial waste has definitely caused a positive impact on the water of the river Yamuna" said by Delhi Jal Board vice chairman Raghav Chadda.

This is the condition of not only Yamuna river but also river Ganga. Dr. PK Mishra an IIT professor in BHU states that a 40-50% improvement has been seen in the water quality of Ganga. May we should ensure such lock downs every year for a week so that the entire population of the country realize and see how clear can air and water become. 

Climate Change

As all of us are aware that carbon dioxide emissions are responsible for climate change. If you look at the data of where the world wide carbon dioxide emissions are emitted from, then you will notice that transportation  sector has a huge contribution in it.

 And obviously, during the lock down there has been a decline in all of it- lesser number of cars are plying, lesser no. of planes are flying and so obviously, there is a massive decline in carbon dioxide emissions.

This was all about Impacts of lock down on the environment . If government will take good measures to control the pollution, construct sewage treatment plants in the right manner and make strong regulations for the companies and industries to treat their waste themselves, then this can happen the air and water can be cleaner.

On 11the march World Health Organisation (WHO) declared COVID-19 a Pandemic (a epidemic affecting a large geographical area; often on a global scale) , pointing to over 118000 cases of corona virus illness in over 110 countries and territories around the world and sustained risk of further global spread.

No. of people who are currently infected by this virus  :

Deaths – 4633

Recovered – 68285

China has recovered most of its patients. Unfortunately it started from there but they have recovered with lot of hard work. After China most infected country is Italy with 12462 cases, 827 deaths, and 1045 recovered.

Last Pandemic Disease was SWIN FLUE (H1N1) 2009. Declared by WHO in 2010

What’s COVID-19 ?

First of corona virus is not a single virus it is a family virus. On 31st December 2019 it was founded in Wuhan, China. They named it N-COV (Novel corona virus). Generally its original source is generates from some animal which affect the human and later through human to human contact this corona virus spread amongst humans. For example – SARS virus spread amongst humans through bat in 2003.

How Much Dangerous is it?

Currently total number of infected people are 152000 and 5845 people dead globally. So if we look at the proportion of

Total no. of people infected: total no. of deaths there is approx 2% of chances to death. This 2% is a mortality rate , this means that in case you contact the infection of the novel corona virus then what are the chances that you are going to die because of it?

2% means there us 98% chances that you are not going to die because of it, eventually you will recover. In fact studying the cases until now it has been found out that most people that die due to corona virus already had weak immune system due to some other reasons. Most were elderly and old or their immune system was already weak before hand for example – a heart disease or any other problem. 

SYMPTOMS:

Symptoms are similar of corona virus like COUGH, COLD, HEADACHE, FRVER, CHILL, SORE THROAT. All this happen to you when you catch a cough and cold normally or when you catch seasonal flu and these are the symptoms of the new Corona Virus. 

This is a unfortunate thing because due to this, it is very difficult to recognize when you have contacted a normal seasonal flu and when you have contacted the new corona virus. When there is any extreme case of corona virus then one may contact pneumonia too.

The incubation period of corona virus is between 2-11 days this is if you are infected it might take 11 days for the symptoms to show. 

CURE:

There is no vaccine to prevent corona virus. WHO recommend some cure to reduce the risk :

• Clean hands regularly with Alcohol  based hand rub or soap and water.
• Cover nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or flexed elbow.
• Avoid close contact (1m – 3feet) with anyone with cold flu symptoms.
• Avoid travelling for few days.
• Avoid going to public place
• As soon as you see symptoms contact to nearly hospital.

Preventions

Nearly 74 cases are founded infected in India with 1 death . Recently 1 case is found in Odisha today.

MY OPINION:

People should maintain precautions and do not panic. It can be recoverable at 2-3% chances of death. There has been so much of fear mongering by the media an atmosphere of panic is being created almost as if the new virus is akin to a zombie apocalypse.

But economically it will have deleterious effect not only on china but also world economy. As every place are getting close and country like china, Italy and now even India is also close for few days and as we see oil prices are also decrease , there are chances of economy to low.
